Box Culvert and Spillway Repair – Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project
Box Culvert and Spillway Repair – Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project
This project involved the structural rehabilitation of the dam spillway and box culvert at the Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project, Nepal’s 456 MW powerhouse located in Dolakha District. The work focused on restoring the strength and durability of hydraulic surfaces exposed to continuous high-velocity water flow and abrasion.
High-strength, wear-resistant thixotropic cementitious mortar was applied to repair and resurface the damaged concrete areas, providing enhanced mechanical strength, adhesion, and erosion resistance in aggressive hydropower environments.

Scope of Work
Surface Repair & Strengthening:
Repaired and resurfaced deteriorated spillway and culvert sections using thixotropic cementitious mortar.
High-Strength Mortar Application:
Utilized wear-resistant, high-bond mortar to withstand hydraulic stress and abrasion.
Precision Finishing:
Achieved smooth and durable surface profiles to optimize flow efficiency and reduce future wear.
Why It Matters
This project highlighted our technical capability in executing complex repair works under challenging hydropower conditions. The use of specialized high-strength thixotropic mortar extended the service life of the spillway and culvert while ensuring long-term hydraulic performance and safety.
