Spillway Repair Works – Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower Ltd.

Repair and Maintenance of Gates at Damsite – Sunkoshi Hydropower Station (SHPS)

This project involved the comprehensive repair and maintenance of dam gates at the Sunkoshi Hydropower Station (SHPS), a key river-based hydropower facility in Nepal. The objective was to restore full operational integrity of the spillway gate system by addressing structural wear, water leakage, surface corrosion, and mechanical inefficiencies caused by years of exposure to high-pressure flow and environmental conditions.

Spillway Repair Works – Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower Ltd.

This project focused on the specialized structural repair and surface strengthening of the spillway at Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower. The work involved advanced epoxy-based grouting, micro-concreting, and application of high-performance repair mortars designed to resist aggressive hydraulic and chemical exposure in spillway environments.

Through the use of low-viscosity epoxy injection, gel-type epoxy grouting, and M80-grade mortar technologies, this rehabilitation effort enhanced the long-term integrity and wear resistance of the spillway structure.

Scope of Work

Low Viscosity Epoxy Grouting – Concrete Joints

  • Supplied and applied two-component low-viscosity epoxy resin for sealing and structural bonding at concrete joints
  • Material Used: Epoxy Injection Resin (Epojet LV-40)
  • Enabled deep penetration and high bonding strength at fine cracks and joints

Gel Epoxy Grouting – Undersluice Top Vertical Wall

  • Installed lamela-type packers at designated injection points based on structural assessment
  • Supplied and injected gel-based epoxy grout into the vertical wall of the undersluice to prevent seepage and bond delaminated concrete
  • Material Used: Mapegel UTT

Micro-Concrete Application

  • Supplied and applied high early-strength, non-shrink micro-concrete for structural patching and damaged volume replacement
  • Material Used: Mapefill 08
  • Provided flowable, self-compacting properties suitable for congested reinforcement areas

High-Strength Mortar Application

  • Supplied and applied M80-grade, single-component, sulphate and chloride resistant, fibre-reinforced, thixotropic repair mortar
  • Material Used: Mapegrout T80
  • Used in critical high-wear surfaces for long-term durability and hydraulic resistance

Project Highlights

  • Integration of advanced epoxy resin systems and packer-based injection methods
  • Application of high-performance mortars for restoring and protecting structural surfaces exposed to continuous water flow
  • Executed under challenging terrain and access conditions with adherence to hydropower industry repair standards
