Middle Marsyangdi Hydropower – Dam Spillway Structure Maintenance & Rehabilitation

Middle Marsyangdi Hydropower – Dam Spillway Structure Maintenance & Rehabilitation

The project involved comprehensive structural maintenance and rehabilitation of the spillway structure at Middle Marsyangdi Hydropower Station, a key hydropower facility under NEA. The primary focus was to strengthen the dam’s structural components to withstand high-pressure water flow and extend the operational life of the spillway.

Highlight: M60 Grade High-Strength Concrete

Our key technical achievement on this project was the supply, mixing, and precision placement of M60-grade high-strength concrete—engineered to meet the high-performance demands of hydropower infrastructure. Leveraging MAPEI Dynamon SR 504, we ensured superior compressive strength, reduced permeability, and long-term durability.

  • This high-performance concrete offered:
    Exceptional strength for structural restoration

  • Enhanced resistance to hydraulic erosion and abrasion

  • Extended service life under challenging operational conditions

Scope of Work

High-Strength Concrete (M60+ Grade) Works:

  • Supplied and placed M60 or higher-grade concrete using advanced admixture technology, ensuring optimal placement, bonding, and durability in spillway slabs and surface sections.

Micro-Concreting on Damaged Surfaces:

  • Supplied and applied Mapefill 08 – a high early-strength, self-compacting, non-shrink M55+ grade micro concrete, ideal for repairing degraded spillway surfaces with precise flowability and structural bonding.

Structural Steel Lining (MS Plate Work):

  • Fabricated and installed mild steel lining plates in designated spillway areas to enhance reinforcement, reduce surface erosion, and improve long-term structural performance under heavy water discharge.

Why This Project Stands Out

This rehabilitation project showcased our capability in executing high-specification concrete works alongside custom structural steel reinforcement under challenging hydropower site conditions. The use of M60-grade concrete as a structural core solution, paired with durable MS plate lining, delivered a long-lasting, performance-driven result for one of Nepal’s key energy assets.
