Diversion Dam Spillway No. 2 and 3 – Structure Maintenance & Rehabilitation

Diversion Dam Spillway No. 2 and 3 – Structure Maintenance & Rehabilitation
This project involved the structural rehabilitation and maintenance of Spillway No. 2 and 3 at the Kaligandaki "A" Hydropower Station—the largest hydropower plant in Nepal. Our scope included advanced repair techniques to restore structural performance and durability in critical areas exposed to high hydraulic pressure.
Highlight: M60 Grade High-Strength Concrete
The centerpiece of this project was the supply, mixing, and precise placement of M60-grade high-strength concrete—a benchmark in structural durability. Using MAPEI Dynamon SR 504 as a high-performance superplasticizer, we achieved exceptional workability and strength for this demanding hydropower infrastructure application.
This high-grade concrete ensured:
- Superior compressive strength and durability
- High resistance to environmental and hydraulic wear
- Enhanced service life of spillway structures

Scope of Work
Supply and placement of M60+ Grade Concrete:
- Carefully batched and placed high-strength concrete with advanced admixture technology for spillway base and surface rehabilitation.
Micro-Concreting on Damaged Surfaces:
- Applied M55+ grade ready-to-use, high early-strength, non-shrink micro concrete using Mapefill 08, ideal for structural patching of eroded spillway areas.
Application of High-Performance Epoxy Mortar:
- Delivered and applied a three-component epoxy mortar (Resin:Hardener:Filler) in targeted zones to restore bond and surface integrity.
Why It Matters
This project demonstrated our capability to execute precision-grade concrete works in complex hydropower environments. The use of M60 concrete was not only a technical requirement but a performance milestone, ensuring long-term resilience of the spillway under high flow conditions.
